FOUNDER BERYL'S STORY

I was 35 years old and working at a pharmaceutical company when the Universe told me the following:

My complete nutcase of a horse (aptly named Brat) was not being helped by ANY of the calming supplements on the market. And I realised I actually had the knowledge necessary to invent an effective one.
My then two year old daughter needed more time with her mom.
Products on the market for animals at the time were either pharmaceutical drugs or seemingly arbitrary mixes of herbs with hundreds of varied, unsubstantiated, medical claims.

I saw a gaping hole in the market for carefully thought out, well researched yet safe natural products. This was how The Herbal Horse was born.

A few years later, we extended the range to include products for dogs and cats. We named this part of the business The Herbal Pet.

At about the same time, I discovered new passion – exporting. I really do believe that small South African businesses exporting to other countries could go a long way towards healing our country’s many problems. Soon, we were exporting to the Middle East, Europe and the United Kingdom.

In 2016, we won a competition called Boost your Biz. The prize was space on Pick n Pay’s shelves. This was a major boost for our pet products. So much so that we invented a whole range of products for Pick n Pay called Nutriphase Herbals, becoming the first pet suppliers to Pick n Pay to be marketed under their famous Livewell brand.

What is next, you may ask? Well, firstly I want to update The Herbal Horse products . Then I’m keen to try out The Herbal Human – what do you think?

KERRY'S STORY

Having ridden since I was 4, been a horse owner from the age of 10, had years of competitive eventing experience and managed my own yards, I have decades of experience in caring for equines with a huge variation of behavioral and health issues! Not surprisingly, I have always had a pack of dogs around, including rescues, who have presented with their own worries.

Like most horse & pet owners, I have tried many products over the years that made big promises, with only very few remaining on my shelves and in my "must-have" box. The Herbal Horse and The Herbal Pet products come in to this category and I have personally been using them for over a decade on my horses and dogs, especially Itch Mix on my homebred Daisy, to treat her sweet itch, Immune Mix on my ex-racer Annie for chronic sinus issues, and Calming Chews on our rescue dog Bonnie, all with great and continued results.

I met Beryl online a long time ago and started to use her products and even though at times I had to wait for them to arrive from South Africa, I remained a loyal and regular customer as I knew nothing could replace the relief my horses got from using her products. It has been a pleasure to watch her invest her time and passion in to creating products that truly do benefit and improve the lives of animals worldwide.

Herbal Horse & Pet Ltd is run here in the UK with James as Managing Director and we cannot wait to allow more UK based customers to quickly find relief and support for their animals' health and wellbeing.
